ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the reader explores the foundational lessons they will need to think about and create when starting to design a video game. These lessons start with building up research habits, learning to incorporate other people's ideas rather than just your own, seeing with limitless eyes instead of letting fears stop you from creating, and having a vision for the game in your mind's eye. Along the way the reader will learn to look at areas like replay-ability, color schemes, deciding if a story is truly needed, and who the target audience is for the game. The reader will understand that game design is not just in video games alone and see how design found throughout the world can improve a game. By the conclusion of the chapter, the reader will have a varied understanding of how to create a great pitch document for any game.
