ABSTRACT

In this chapter we will apply the MATLAB function that was developed in Chapter 8 to address the scenario of the falling wad of paper presented in Chapter 5. In contrast with the case of the inaccessible voltage in our hypothetical gizmo, this case actually deals with a dynamic system and its evolution. Since there are two state variables, most of the parameters in the Kaman Filter algorithm are now matrices or vectors. It should be noted that the onedkf function developed in Chapter 8 can be used in this case too, since it was developed for the multivariate case and the univariate example studied in Chapter 9 was simply a scalar special case of the general process. We will visualize and reflect on the results from Kalman Filtering estimation of the height of the falling wad of paper.
