ABSTRACT
This chapter shows how to characterize the set of tangent vectors to curves passing through x* included in the constraint set and how to establish the equations satisfied by a local extreme point x*. It shows how to identify the candidates’ points for optimality, and explores the global optimality of a constrained local candidate point. The chapter establishes the dependence of the optimal function with respect to certain of its parameters.
