ABSTRACT

The activities of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Soviet Climate Science are discussed focusing on the contribution and reliability of their Assessments and Reports, in particular on the predicted consequences of climate change such as the sea-level rise, freshwater resources, desertification, agriculture, and food supply. Then, the concept of global ecology is analysed, discussing the degree of success of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol in the climate predictions. Α special discussion about the role of Soviet Climatologists, especially in the debate about the human-induced global warming, is then presented. The Non-governmental International Panel on Climate Change is introduced, highlighting in particular, its key contributions on the no-consensus in the scientific community about global climate warming and the bias of climate science by political science. Finally, the Green Movement for the human-induced global warming is presented in detail.
