ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses step-by-step to learn about the intelligent techniques and their usefulness in digital watermarking. As a copyright protection tool, the key advantage of digital watermarking is that the cover and the inserted watermark are largely inseparable so that the watermark is sustained within the cover, even after the conversion of the cover into a different file format. Saliency is a feature of an object of being attractive with respect to its surroundings; and so that object is called a salient object. Visual perception through saliency detection is an emerging study involving several fields, such as computer vision, neuroscience and psychology. Saliency mapping can guide an image watermarking scheme to insert the watermark in such an adaptive way that imperceptibility can be improved. The grouping of saliency map pixels may be performed by defining the range of saliency manually.
