ABSTRACT

Chapter 1 provides a coverage of the level of mathematics needed to understand the concepts of quantum mechanics up to and including the Schrödinger equation. This level of mathematics is typically at advanced high school or first year college level for a course in engineering or science. It is written on the assumption that the reader already knows how to perform basic differentiation and integration. The chapter also provides a handy refresher for those who may have covered this material many years ago. From complex numbers to matrices, the level is pitched at an intermediate level.
