ABSTRACT

Putting major combined cycle power plant equipment and balance of plant (BOP) equipment together and creating a working power plant requires three major activities: engineering, procurement and construction (EPC). This is the subject of this chapter, which describes all three activities and the history behind the EPC contracts (e.g., lump sum turnkey, cost plus). Examples are requisite design criteria documents, sample schedules and manpower requirements. Heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) steam blow and acceptance tests are important parts of startup and commissioning activities and are covered in detail. The chapter also provides general arrangement examples of a typical combined cycle power plant.
