ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a comprehensive coverage gas turbine combined cycle power plant capital cost and levelized cost of electricity (LCOE). Difference between cost and price, basic installed cost estimation methodologies, common pitfalls in interpreting, analyzing and generating cost data are covered in detail with realistic numerical examples, formulae and charts. Factors going into total installed cost such as man-hours, construction equipment and schedule are introduced with the help of sample data so that the reader is acquainted with the nuts and bolts of a real commercial construction project, which goes far beyond the cost of equipment. The chapter includes a detailed cost-performance trade-off example, which highlights the basic principles of economic evaluation of power plant concepts.
