ABSTRACT

This chapter provides the reader with the author’s projections of the place of gas turbine combined cycle technology in a sustainable generation portfolio in the near and foreseeable future. Potential improvements in thermal efficiency are forecast with the help of first principles, especially the second law of thermodynamics, which anchored the coverage of the technology in the preceding chapters. A brief summary of emerging (and enabling) technologies such as additive manufacturing concludes the chapter.
