ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a detailed description of four major equipment packages: gas and steam turbine prime movers, the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and the synchronous ac generator. As such, the reader is acquainted with the real hardware, which is represented as a simple geometric shape on a heat and mass balance diagram (e.g., a trapezoid for a turbine) with a few arrows going into or out of it. Familiarity with equipment packages is requisite for many practical reasons, especially for accurate cost estimation. The coverage includes major steam turbine valves and auxiliary equipment, HRSG drum and tube bundles, etc. The chapter also includes a complete scope of supply by the contractor and/or major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
