ABSTRACT
Active processes are analyzed based on the kinetics
of the corresponding transformations. There are two main
types: homogeneous kinetics (successfully applied to ther-
mal and chemical inactivation) and non-homogeneous
kinetics (successfully applied to radiation sterilization).
These processes can be developed to deliver terminal
sterilization (sterility assurance level (SAL) of 10-6).
