ABSTRACT

The planning portion of communications management includes identifying the best way to provide effective communication to project stakeholders. This chapter provides an overview of tools to assist the Project Management (PM) in tracking important aspects of the project to facilitate access to the accurate status of the project and to share information easily. The roles and responsibilities sheet is generally shared only between the PM and the involved team member as it contains a more specific definition of each work task. The chapter includes a discussion on technology and specifically the components of the project management information system. There are different status tracking tools and techniques that exist to help the PM and team stay updated on the ongoing status of different versions of documents, commitments on presentations or demonstrations promised by team members. The stakeholder register is another important “project document, including the identification, assessment, and classification of project stakeholders”.
