ABSTRACT

This chapter builds on communication management but focuses on optimizing team management. It addresses the dynamics of the project team. Project teams need to have a clear understanding of their role in how each team member fits within the entire team. In the project team performance tools section, the group development model consisting of forming, storming, norming, and performing was discussed. The chapter discusses the organizing project teams a simple input and output relationship model to help team members complete their tasks and assist their team members with their tasks. The People Capability Maturity Model consists of some maturity levels for continuously improving team competencies, resulting in effective software teams. Project managements need “skills to identify, build, maintain, motivate, lead, and inspire project teams to achieve high team performance and to meet the project’s objectives”. Project team members need to have a clear understanding of their role within the team and the overall organization.
