ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the importance of tracking project status, tools for tracking project status, and a design technique to use in developing a project status report. It demonstrates that there are many different options available to produce reports that provide project status. MS Project has many different standard and custom status tracking tools available. The Milestone Report displays project milestones that are late, up next and completed. Many metrics can help define project status. The template includes a summary of the status of the project, such as the project’s goals, progress, key issues, risks, and next steps. Overall, there are many different ways to track the status of their project. Communicating these metrics can help to document the success of the project team as well. A project management can use velocity diagram display to track the progress made with completing tasks as well as showing the remaining work affiliated with a project.
