ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on managing the project scope while change requests occur. It discusses the purpose of project change requests and project change boards. The chapter also addresses the companion role of the configuration management (CM) system, the integrated change control (ICC) process mechanics, and the overall importance of tracking and documentation of such activities throughout the project life cycle. It focuses on the role of change requests (CRs) and change control board (CCB), the CM system and its relationship to the ICC process, outlined the ICC process, and highlights the importance of tracking and documentation of all CRs and their associated activity throughout the project life cycle. The chapter also discusses ICC as it relates to quality, costs, and leadership. It emphasizes that all changes to the approved baseline must be formally documented and processed by the CCB. The CCB has authority to make project changes that fall within the approved baseline envelope.
