ABSTRACT

Tapestry lawns (T-lawns) have been developed in the ancestral home of the lawn, the British Isles and NW Europe. A list of other species that have also been successfully included in T-lawns but whose performance has been variable and sometimes site specific is also included. Worldwide, it seems very likely that there will be many untapped species just waiting to creep into use in T-lawns. Information on how they may behave in T-lawns in other locations around the globe is yet to be amassed, and there are therefore many opportunities for experimentation and assessment of more location and environmentally suitable species in other locales. However, it would seem only prudent to mention again that beyond British and NW European shores that the plants recommended here may be, or may have the potential to be, invasive in other parts of the globe and should be treated with appropriate horticultural caution.
