ABSTRACT

Configuration Management Systems are considered as a subset of the overall Project Management System. Configuration Management is applied throughout the lifecycle of the product and extends beyond the boundaries of the project. Configuration Control and Change Control are often used interchangeably. Both are related activities and both are subsets of the overall Configuration Management System. They are two distinct activities with very different focus and neither is a subset of each other. Change Control is the process of identifying documenting, approving or rejecting and controlling changes to the project baselines. Change Management is the discipline that guides how to prepare, equip and support individuals and groups to adopt changes to drive organisational successful change. Enterprise change management is an organisational core competency that provides competitive differentiation and the ability to effectively adapt to the event changing world. Driving successful individual transitions should be the focus of the activities in organisational change management.
