ABSTRACT

I was at a conference of the American Crystallographic Association (ACA) in May 1999 in Buffalo, New York and on the bus to go on an excursion. The bus driver asked us, “What do you folks do?” A senior member of the ACA on the bus promptly replied, “Oh, we are people who can see atoms”. I hope the bus driver believed that answer because indeed we do see atoms in our daily research!
