ABSTRACT
An important global redefinition of What is science? is the merger in 2018 of the International Council of Scientific Unions and the International Social Sciences Council to launch the International Council for Science. The merged mission reflects an age where funding agencies more and more wish to see scientific research undertaken that is valued by society. This is a very significant step which this chapter explores.
