ABSTRACT
This chapter starts with a brief discussion about the mechanical behaviors of materials in the nanoscale. The phenomena that can affect the mechanical behaviors will be determined. Next, the special characteristics which can be observed only using the dispersion of waves in the nanoscale will be expressed, and it will be declared that, in some of the modern applications, nanoscale wave propagation simplifies the work for the user. Afterward, some of the most significant applications of wave propagation in tiny nanodevices will be discussed to emphasize the critical role of the wave propagation technique in smart materials. At the end of this chapter, we will give an insight into the variants involved in obtaining accurate wave propagation responses of a system.
