ABSTRACT

The major reason for writing this chapter is to show the electromechanically influenced wave propagation responses of functionally graded nanosize beams and plates. The governing equations of motion will be derived using the procedure explained in Chapter 4 using piezoelectric materials for covering the effects of applied electric voltage on the mechanical characteristics of waves dispersed in smart composite nanosize elements. It will be seen that the dispersion curves of nanosize beams and plates will be dramatically influenced by changing the applied voltage depending on the selected wave number. In addition, the coupled effects of electric voltage and the existence of porosities in the smart composite on the propagation behaviors of waves traveling in nanostructures will be covered.
