ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with solving the wave propagation problem of smart functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) nanoscale beams and plates by combining the nonlocal strain gradient constitutive equations of smart MEE materials with kinematic relationships of either classical or higher-order shear deformation beams and plates. Again, the dynamic form of the principle of virtual work will be employed as done in previous chapters to derive the governing equations of the problem regarding for the smart MEE coupling of the material. Besides smart features of the material, the impacts of the existence of porosities on the dispersion curves of the continuous systems will be included in the investigation performed. It will be realized that the propagation behaviors of the system will be dramatically influenced by changing the magnetic potential as well as external applied electric voltage.
