ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors use the jigsaw pieces and focus on some of the personal attributes discussed there, illustrating their relevance and importance at this level. Consistently speaking up for what is important for the group, whilst respecting individual values and concerns, is noticed by others and helps to maintain our integrity. These attributes are a good indicator of integrity, which is particularly important when there hasn't been the opportunity to form deeper relationships. Such relative strangers may know when and where we need assistance, even when they are not aware that they do, and our compassion and courtesy may motivate people to help us. When working across organisational boundaries, people judge each other quickly and on limited information.
