ABSTRACT

Good leadership is something that happens between people. In every interaction with others the leaders had choices to make, although more often they react based on our own values and the habits that they had embedded over years. It takes practice to become aware there are choices to be made in any interaction. It takes even more practice to develop a new habit of choosing our responses wisely, and 'in the moment', with an understanding of the potential impact of the choice. Similar body language used in relating to others in team can have an impact on their contribution and therefore on their effectiveness as a leader. Meetings are a good place to observe body language, and to consider what it might mean. Empathy is defined differently by different researchers and psychologists, although it is considered to be the ability to sense the emotions of others and to be able to imagine what someone else may be thinking or feeling.
