ABSTRACT

Cost of concrete comprises almost 60% of any project cost, and reduction in its cost can turn around almost any construction business into a huge profit-making venture. This chapter discusses the statistical approach of optimizing concrete to achieve the desired performance at least possible cost. The optimized mixes with given set of raw materials, as per the methods described in this chapter, may not have further doubts on their scope of further optimization provided the cost of raw materials remain constant.

Can concrete once optimized be considered as optimized forever, irrespective of changing cost of raw materials?

How can the most optimum ratio of a material be decided in concrete?
