ABSTRACT

Part 3 describes how to obtain approximate solutions to differential equations. These are results that give useful information for the solution of a differential equation in a region or near a point, not globally. More than 40 topics are covered in the concise information format used throughout the book. Covered are traditional topics (including seven different perturbation techniques and the WKB method), more advanced topics (such as Adomian's method and dominant balance), and sophisticated topics (several methods obtain information about the solutions to stochastic differential equations).
