ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how the Bayesian philosophy. Information about each article is stored in the fake_news dataset in the bayesrules package. The fake_news data contains the full text for actual news articles, both real and fake. Thinking like Bayesians, people know that balancing both pieces of information is important in developing a posterior understanding of whether the article is fake. Conditional probabilities are fundamental to Bayesian analyses, and thus a quick pause to absorb this concept is worth it. It's important to keep in mind that the probability models people built for our news analysis above are just that – models. Sampling with replacement ensures that people start with a fresh set of possibilities for each article – any article can either be fake or real. In 1996, world chess champion Gary Kasparov played a much anticipated six-game chess match against the IBM supercomputer Deep Blue.
