ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the feasibility of recognition to peanut appearance characteristic. These characteristics could hardly be detected by visible light images, but it could also be detected by imaging techniques in other waveband such as near-infrared spectroscopy analysis. The detection of peanut cultivars and quality is an important composition for peanut breeding and quality testing. The detection of facticity and purity in the seeds of peanut mainly concerns the sort of the peanut variety and the detection of peanut quality mainly scales trade quality especially the organoleptic quality. The biochemical identification calls for expensive equipment for detection, precise and complex technique for experimentation, and high cost. In order to cope with the demand in peanut breeding, further processing and foreign trade, there is a compelling need to find a speedy and accurate method that identifies the peanut variety and quality.
