ABSTRACT

Endless inclusive talks and a flurry of social media buzz have not solved any mobility problems. The visible ignorance of invisible people in mobility leads to a simple solution to the complex problem – what are the fundamentals for mobility planning and design that work for every human. This chapter summarizes some basic principles reflecting the learnings from the evolution of city building and how mobility systems have shaped us over thousands of years. One of the basic principles of the human species is we are born without a blueprint. The quality of places and city building gives us a short window to get rid of boredom and maintain our mental or physical health conditions. Despite being more environmentally motivated and less skeptical about the importance of environmental issues, women face a disproportionate exposure to pollution. Mobility choices are strongly associated with age and gender.
