ABSTRACT
The introduction of this book presents what is the book about: a handbook of thematic cartography with no GIS but designed to be a practical and fully illustrated tool for geography students. What definition of the map can be given? Why maps are essentials for understanding reality. The three parts of the handbook are presented.
It includes a very short history of cartography to keep some important cartographic steps in mind.
