ABSTRACT

The last step in the designing map process is what we call “layout” and “staging”: indeed, a map will be finished when the cartographic image has been properly set out on a page. This finalization phase consists in the different ways in placing and organizing the different elements making up the map, and taking account of legibility, the size, and the format of the map. Chapter 8 shows how to “dress” these elements on a geographical image, how to organize the elements making up the map, and how to bring the map to life!
