You know how to fit linear regression models when observations come from a simple random sample. But with data from a complex survey, regression models need to be fit using the sampling weights, and properties of regression coefficients and predictions depend on the survey design. This chapter tells how to fit linear and logistic regression models to survey data and how to interpret the regression coefficients. In surveys, regression models are also used to compare subgroups of the population (for example, to compare the average body mass index of men and women). Calibration, used to force survey estimates to agree with independent population counts, is an application of regression methods.
