ABSTRACT

The past two decades on CNT-MMCs have demonstrated that the novel properties that CNTs possess can be harnessed to design and make metallic composites with extraordinary combinations of properties. CNT-MMCs are potential next generation materials for high-performance applications. This chapter briefly summarizes the research on CNT-MMCs and provides the current state of the art to the readers. With continued research in this maturing technology, specific properties and techniques are changing day by day, new benchmarks are being set, and effectively dispersed CNTs, and efficient strengthening levels are being achieved. The lessons learned from previous studies continue to be utilized in further developing novel techniques and improving on existing methods. The second important objective of this chapter is to provide the readers with new future research directions and a renewed roadmap for the technological mature of this revolutionary materials technology – CNT-MMCs.
