ABSTRACT

The basic outline for livestock budgets and the method to determine optimal input levels were provided in the last chapter. The purposes of the present chapter are (1) to show how the basic budget format can be modified to fit a variety of different systems on one farm and (2) to explain how livestock enterprises can be evaluated within a whole farm planning context. Another interpretation of the examples is the way to describe cost-and-returns analyses on livestock systems in a certain geographic area.
