ABSTRACT

In terms of human population, the Philippines is the seventh largest country in Asia. It is made up of a group of Islands naturally divided into four segments. In this chapter, attention is given to how a small area classification has been developed for Barangays, by combining categorical and continuous variables. Barangays with projected households not exceeding 500 are considered as enumeration areas. Social ties are generally tightly knitted at the barangay administrative division. A three-tier hierarchical classification system is produced following rigorous data interrogation.
