ABSTRACT

The equilibrium equation of a buckled anisotropic right-angled isosceles triangular plate under the effect of large deflection following Berger’s method has been discussed. The equation is further simplified assuming that the plate is equally stiffened along the sides containing the right angle and equal stiffening is followed by the equal modulus of elasticity. The differential equation obtained in this case from the energy principle is found to be nonlinear, but in the case of a small deflection, the same nonlinear equations become linear when Berger’s normalised constant of integration reduces to zero. The stability analysis has been done in the case of large deflection to obtain the critical load from the resulting nonlinear equation.
