ABSTRACT
The microscopic considerations are done to analyze the motion of soil particles and the predominant flow direction of pore water and pore air in the soil block. The motion of soil particles is estimated by the change in the contact angle at the contact point and the disappearance and appearance of contact points. The first assumption with respect to the grain size distribution function: The grain size accumulation curve obtained from the grain size analysis is modeled by the logarithmic normal distribution in the proposed model. The authors think that it might be valid for coarse-grained soil, but occasionally invalid for fine-grained soil. However, if the grain size accumulation curve can be expressed by the other distribution function, the proposed model is applicable, replacing the logarithmic normal distribution by the other distribution function.
