ABSTRACT

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Department of Defense had this to say about DoD Architectural Framework (DoDAF) : DodAF is the overarching comprehensive framework and conceptual model enabling the development of architectures to facilitate the ability of DoD managers at all levels to make decisions more effectively through organized information sharing across the Department, Joint Capability Areas, Mission, Component, and Program boundaries. Ministry of Defence Architecture Framework (MoDAF) is the British Ministry of Defence Architecture Framework, and it pertains to the “Enterprise” and not to systems. So it is applicable to any and all businesses. MoDAF states that there is no specific and “official” architectural process that they endorse or require. Apparently, this is a matter of policy and the desire to leave this matter to the ingenuity of the provider. The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) provides guidance regarding how to structure and develop an enterprise architecture. It is elaborate and comprehensive.
