ABSTRACT

This chapter continues with upgrading the art assets of DotGame3D. It focuses on the DotRobot character. Prerendering is a computer graphics technique where we build and optionally animate an object in 3D and use the 3D program’s rendering engine to generate 2D sprites. For the DotRobot character we’ll be able to use the 3D model, ignore the sprite generation, and run the animation of the character directly in Unity instead. Game developers, animators, programmers, even composers all develop workflows over time. A good workflow will serve us well and become much faster as we repeat it over and over, sometimes for years. The chapter animates the armature of DotRobot in Blender.
