ABSTRACT

Chapter 8 considers distance matrices and spatial data, where the distance matrices contain the spatial distances between the observed locations of objects and there is interest in testing for an association between the different distance matrices. The Mantel test is described as one way to do this. Sampling the randomization distribution, confidence intervals for regression coefficients, the multiple Mantel test, and other approaches with more than two distance matrices are discussed, and there is also some further information about other spatial data methods.
