ABSTRACT

Organising an asthma clinic is very dependent on the patients referred to the clinic, local possibilities and traditions, the clinic being a tertiary clinic or not and lastly the collaborators available. Not all models of care will be the same in every setting or for every patient. Not every trait has to be assessed or treated. Treatable traits offer a framework that can be adapted to available resources and patient preferences. In mild to moderate asthma assessment of symptoms, dominant treatable traits will be sufficient in the general care of the patients, whereas in the moderate to severe patients, more issues and factors of importance may need to be assessed. We set out below a template for person-centred, modern asthma care.
