ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the application of ethical frameworks in practical construction industry-based scenarios. There are five main sections: working for a main contractor, working for a subcontractor, being self-employed, or working for a consultant or working for a client. While the construction industry is diverse and many professionals may consider themselves part of organisations that do not specifically meet these category headings, the headings are broad enough to cover the majority of professionals currently operating within the construction industry. In each category, scenarios are presented with accompanying questions and answers to encourage ethical consideration and decision making. This chapter illustrates how ethical frameworks that sometimes appear to be created in isolation from real-world settings can be applied to the situations many professionals face on a daily basis.
