ABSTRACT
In this chapter, an introduction to machine learning starting from pattern recognition has been discussed. Various types of machine learning approaches and classifiers have also been analyzed. A detail of pattern recognition and machine learning methods applications have also been given. In the last section, the capability of machine learning methods along with the remote sensing data for various earth observation application have also been discussed.
