ABSTRACT

Particular attention is paid to the microstructure of the Cu-Ta multilayer composite produced by explosive welding. An anomalous effect of increasing the characteristics of the impact toughness of composite 1 immediately after explosive welding has been revealed. A prerequisite for explosive welding is the formation of a cumulative jet, which is essential for good weldability. The welding of magnesium and its alloys is characterized by the formation of cracks in the weld. Explosive welding was carried out by the Volgograd State Technical University, OJSC Ural Chemical Engineering Plant. The package of initial plates turns into a multi-layer composite during explosive welding, but loses its lamellar essence and turns into a solid solution during SPD torsion with a large number of turns. Time of SPD torsion is long enough for the disappearance of the plates. The explosion occurs almost instantaneously and the plates are preserved, cohesion occurs between them, the structure of the interfaces changes.
