ABSTRACT
Communication is key in engineering of complex systems and particularly around issues of unsustainability. Chapter 3 focuses on how graphical representations of data and models of scenarios can be manipulated in order to create different impressions. Scenarios for future energy transition involve projections of demand and substitution of renewable energy. Modelling of this type of scenario is examined. The chapter reviews the way that sustainability is currently monitored in corporations and governments, and discussed the approach to wicked problems and the rationale for transition engineering.
