ABSTRACT
Green Internet of things (IoT) focuses on reducing the energy consumption of IoT, thereby fulfilling the smart world with sustainability. Both the devices and the protocols used in communicating should be energy efficient. Thus, green IoT is regarded as the future of IoT that is environmentally friendly.
This chapter provides an introduction to green IoT. It begins by providing a brief overview of IoT and the technologies enabling green IoT. It presents some applications and addresses some challenges facing green IoT. The last section concludes the chapter.
