ABSTRACT
In this Study, the solution of the catenary problem is considered on the basis of the analysis of the potential energy of a mechanical system in Mathcad. Two laboratory activities at the intersection of physics, mathematics (geometry) and computer science are proposed.
Mathematics: Catenary, constrained optimization, Cartesian graph, system of linear equation.
Physics: Potential energy, thread with weights.
IT: Shortcomings of Mathcad built-in tools, the text index and the vector index.
