ABSTRACT
This chapter considers a fourth order equation, the biharmonic equation with the Dirichlet boundary conditions. This can be looked upon as a problem in the Sobolev space, but it can also be reformulated in a weak form. The chapter discusses numerical method and Galerkin method. It discusses evaluation of integrals, nonzero boundary conditions and numerical examples.
