ABSTRACT

The main (what–how–when?) axes of systematic organizational changing dimensions are joined to three sets of inclusive cubic developments, to reveal eight stages of changing strategies. They assure the compact strategic and, thus, structural development, integrally covering the 3D space on the axes taken into consideration, by generating and multiplying the strategic cube unity by eight vertices. Within the cubic, strategic changing of each stage is identified by its intrinsic significance as being associated to “strong” direction (parallel) to one of the axes of change (i.e., on 0X, 0Y, and 0Z), respectively, to a dual/mixed/fuzzy combination of these ones (i.e., XY0, 0YZ, and X0Z), and to the beginning and final synergetic points of a cycle of changing (i.e., 000 and XYZ). These points/condition/stages of a strategic change are further exemplified, to the need of technological update and/or alignment, by the scientific management, potentially applied to a National Institute of Research and Development (NIRD). More specifically, one may work for the NIRD in Timişoara, Romania, as a paradigmatic case, showing for each stage the specific content, with chosen activities meant to ensure the successful development of that stage; these activities are considered as essential elements to be followed by the executive manager, or by the changing agent (proffered the scientific director) that may closely follow the management of this complex process of an R(esearch), D(evelopment), and I(nnovation) organizational development. With this occasion, the generalized 3D model of the Kotter’s dual (2D network) model of an organization is also advanced.
