ABSTRACT

In a truss system, joints are assumed to be pinned, which means that there is no moment transfer. Therefore, they can only resist the axial force and axial deformation. Thus, at every node or joint in a truss system, there are only two possible independent components of joint translation with respect to the reference axes system. Similarly, in the local axes system, each joint can have only two joint translation. Thus, there is no rotations at the ends.
